Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Kingsley Grist Mill National Historic Site
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website, participation in our programs, and attendance at our events. By engaging with us—whether online, in person, or through any of our educational offerings—you agree to the terms outlined below. These policies are designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and enriching experience for all children, families, staff, and community members.
Program Enrollment
Enrollment in our programs is open to children and families of all backgrounds. Parents or legal guardians must complete all registration forms accurately and provide emergency contact information, health details, and any relevant behavioral or developmental notes to help us support your child effectively. Enrollment is confirmed only after payment is received and space is available. We reserve the right to limit enrollment based on program capacity, age appropriateness, or staffing availability.
We may request additional documentation for certain programs, including field trip permissions, allergy action plans, or medical clearance for children with specific needs. All information provided is treated confidentially and used solely to ensure your child’s safety and success.
Safety and Supervision
Safety is our highest priority. All programs are supervised by trained staff who follow strict safety protocols, including emergency preparedness, child supervision ratios, and site-specific safety checks. Staff members are background-checked and trained in child protection, first aid, and inclusive care practices.
Parents are expected to provide accurate health and allergy information during enrollment. If a child becomes ill or injured during a program, we will contact the parent or guardian immediately and follow appropriate procedures. We reserve the right to deny participation if safety requirements cannot be met or if a child’s needs exceed our capacity to provide safe care.
Code of Conduct
We are committed to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all. Participants, parents, staff, and volunteers are expected to treat one another with kindness, patience, and respect. Disruptive, unsafe, or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated and may result in removal from a program or event.
Children are guided in positive behavior through age-appropriate expectations, gentle redirection, and clear communication. We do not use punitive discipline and instead focus on helping children develop empathy, cooperation, and self-regulation. Parents are encouraged to communicate openly with staff about any behavioral concerns or support strategies.
Payments, Cancellations, and Refunds
Program fees must be paid in full at the time of enrollment unless otherwise arranged. We accept payment via approved online platforms or in person. Refunds may be issued for cancellations made at least 14 days prior to the program start date. Cancellations made within 14 days may be eligible for partial refunds, depending on staffing and material costs already incurred.
Refunds are not guaranteed for late cancellations or no-shows, except in cases of documented illness, family emergency, or other extenuating circumstances. Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule programs due to weather, staffing, or safety concerns, in which case full refunds or credits will be offered.
Intellectual Property
All content on our website, including text, images, logos, educational materials, and program designs, is the property of Kingsley Grist Mill National Historic Site unless otherwise noted. Families may use materials for personal, non-commercial purposes but may not reproduce, distribute, or modify them without written permission.
We respect the intellectual property of others and strive to credit all external sources appropriately. If you believe your work has been used without proper attribution, please contact us so we can address the issue promptly.
Photography and Media
We occasionally take photos or videos during programs and events for educational, promotional, and archival purposes. We will always seek parental consent before using images of children in public-facing materials such as brochures, social media, or our website.
Parents may opt out of photography at any time by notifying staff in writing. We respect your privacy and will honor your preferences. No child’s full name or identifying details will be published without explicit parental permission.
Liability and Assumption of Risk
While we take every precaution to ensure safety, participation in programs and events involves some inherent risks, including outdoor activities, use of historical equipment, and interaction with natural environments. By enrolling, parents acknowledge these risks and agree not to hold Kingsley Grist Mill National Historic Site, its staff, volunteers, or affiliates liable for injuries or damages except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
We recommend that children wear appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoor and hands-on activities. Parents are responsible for ensuring their child is physically and emotionally prepared for participation.
Accessibility and Inclusion
We strive to make our programs accessible to all children and families, regardless of ability, background, or circumstance. If your child requires accommodations, please contact us in advance so we can work together to create a supportive experience. We welcome children with disabilities, neurodiverse learners, and families from all cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Our staff receive training in inclusive practices and are committed to creating a space where every child feels valued and respected. We continuously review our facilities, materials, and communication methods to improve accessibility.
